Iontophoresis Machines
Iontophoresis machines provide treatment for sweaty hands, feet, face, neck, back and underarms. Iontophoresis machines work by delivering small, safe electronic shocks to the skin. A weak DC electrical current is conducted through the water trays via electrodes. These currents shock the skin, causing a reaction that drastically reduces the amount of sweat produced and excreted. People generally describe the feeling as an "interesting tingling sensation".
Iontophoresis treatment is fast and easy, it can be done in the home every two weeks and provides relief to 98% of patients worldwide who use it. That's right! 98% of people who try an iontophoresis machine experience outstanding results.
IontoPulse IP-1000
The IontoPulse IP-1000 is the newest and best iontophoresis machine on the market.
It has Direct current, Pulsed Current and Variable Pulsed Current you can choose from. It is incredibly easy to use right out of the box. It comes with a foot pedal which allows you to increase or decrease the amperage (strength) or time of the treatment without using your hands! It also comes with the longest warranty in the industry - 4 years - which means this machine should last 30 years without fail.
Hidrex PSP 1000 (DVP-1000)
The Hidrex PSP 1000 has been replaced with the newer upgraded model - the Hidrex DVP-1000. Just like the Iontopulse, the Hidrex now includes the addition of "variable pulsed" current, which is even milder to the skin that pulsed current. The Hidrex PSP 1000 and the DVP-1000 are excellent iontophoresis machines.
Iontophoresis Therapy
If you suffer from extreme hyperhidrosis, iontophoresis therapy is probably your Holy Grail. It is so effective that less than 1% of our patients end up returning their machine. Iontophoresis therapy is great for treating nearly any body part (except the groin) that exhibits extreme perspiration.
How does iontophoresis work?
The weak current passes through the sweat glands and inhibits sweat production without damaging the glands themselves.
Does iontophoresis hurt?
Iontophoresis treatment is not considered painful, but it is not "totally comfortable". The Direct Current (DC) machines give you a light tingle, while the more advanced Pulsed Current (PS, DVP or PC) machines emit an almost unnoticeable sensation. Fortunately, the results outweigh the discomfort, as they are truly remarkable and long-lasting.
How often do I need Iontophoresis Treatment?
Generally, people administer a home treatment for 10-15 minutes once every 10-14 days.
FREQUENTLY ASKED IONTOPHORESIS QUESTIONS
Is Iontophoresis Safe?
Yes. Iontophoresis is extremely safe. These machines are made by reputable manufacturers who have been producing them for over 30 years. Multiple safety features make the use of iontophoresis machines comparable to the safety of using a hair dryer.
How long will the machine last?
Hidrex machines come with a 2-year warranty, and IontoPulse machines come with a 4-year warranty. They are made to withstand repeated use. If used as directed and taken care of, iontophoresis machines can last 20-30 years.
What if it doesn't work? Can I return it?
Yes. You can return the product to us within 60 days if you do not see the results you were looking for*.
DIY Iontophoresis Machines
Can I just make my own machine and save the money?
Yes, of course you can. But, you are putting yourself at great risk of electric shock! Additionally, the volt- to-amps ratio will not be ideal. For you to get the same amount of milliamps, you would need 12 car batteries strung together! And, with this many batteries it would be incredibly painful to the skin. The devices you see people making for themselves on the internet using small batteries are generally not effective at all.
What's the difference between Direct Current (DC) and Pulsed Current or Variable Pulsed Current models?
Each current is effective in stopping perspiration. However, pulsed current treatment allows the user to increase the amperage settings of their machine without causing an uncomfortable or painful sensation. This allows for a better and more effective treatment that will last longer and extend the time between treatments. Variable Pulsed current is even more effective than pulsed and feels even less noticeable.
Although pulsed current devices tend to be more expensive, iontophoresis treatment is potentially a lifelong therapy. The cost on a per-treatment basis is minimal and well worth the results.
The decision on which device to choose is important, as your iontophoresis machine will become an important and well-liked friend. It is imperative that you pick a reliable machine that will provide you with the best service. Iontophoresis treatments are usually a lifelong process, as hyperhidrosis tends to stay with you for life. While you may experience periods where treatment is not needed, hyperhidrosis symptoms eventually resurface, so users will most likely need to continue using their machine on an on-going basis.
Each machine is carefully packaged in a compact, sturdy case. When opened, this case becomes the treatment trays for those treating their hands and feet.
There is no danger of allergic reactions when using your iontophoresis machine, as the electrodes used during treatment are made of aluminum plating and are nickel-free. Optional attachments are available, such as sponges and small or large adapter pads, for individuals wishing to treat other areas of the body.
The concept for these devices was developed in close cooperation with major university hospitals in Germany.
Will I still need to use deodorant / antiperspirant while treating myself with an iontophoresis machine?
While it is not necessary to use deodorant or antiperspirant in combination with iontophoresis therapy, many of our underarm hyperhidrosis patients report that using our Bonedri or Klima Antiperspirant allows them to go longer between treatments. Also, our hand and foot patients report using Klima Handspray and Footspray allows them to go up to 21 days between iontophoresis treatments.
